Third Party Access is established by a student and grants 1098-T form access to a parent, guardian, or other individual. Until third party access is granted, the student is the only individual who may access the 1098-T form. This page instructs students how to establish or update third party access, and also contains instructions for third party users on accessing the 1098-T or updating their password. Use the Table of Contents button on the right-hand side of the page to jump to the instructions you need.

Students: Setup a Third Party User

  1. Access the Third Party Access tile in One.IU. You will be prompted to enter your credentials and DUO authenticate.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. Read the FERPA disclosure agreement and click Accept. The agreement is presented the first time you access the page.
  4. Provide a username, first and last name, third party date of birth, password, and email address for the third party user you wish to establish. Select a security question and provide the security answer.

    Note: The username is case sensitive. Additionally, the password must be between 15 and 32 characters, contain at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one non-letter.

  5. Check the box next to View and Download 1098-T.
  6. Click Save User.

The individual now appears on the 3rd Party Users screen. You must provide the password to the individual so they can use the unique login to access your account. An email will also be sent to the 3rd Party User containing the username you created.

 

Students: Update a Third Party User

  1. Access the Third Party Access tile in One.IU. You will be prompted to enter your credentials and DUO authenticate.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. Navigate to the 3rd Party Assignment screen, located next to the User ID of the account you wish to update. Click Edit.
  4. The 3rd Party Assignment screen allows you to update the username, password, first and/or last name, date of birth, security question and/or answer, and email address of the user you selected. You may also update the individual's level of access by checking or unchecking the boxes in this section.

    Note: The username is case sensitive. Additionally, the password must be between 15 and 32 characters, contain at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one non-letter.

  5. Click Save User. If you changed the username or password, communicate these changes to the third party user.

 

Third Party Users: View a 1098-T Statement

  1. Access the Parent or Third Party Access tile in One.IU.
  2. Click Start.
  3. Enter your student's 10-digit University ID number, your username, and password. Click Submit.
  4. Click View and Download 1098-T.
  5. Click on the PDF link for the applicable year to view the statement and detail transactions.

 

Third Party Users: Change Your Password

Note: You must login with your current password to change your password. If you do not know your current password, the student must update it for you using the Update a Third Party User instructions above.

  1. Access the Parent or Third Party Access tile in One.IU.
  2. Click Start.
  3. Enter your student's 10-digit University ID number, your username, and password. Click Submit.
  4. Click Change 3rd Party Password/Email.
  5. Update your password. Click Submit.
