The Department of Education requires a specific deferment form for each type of benefit. Below is a list of available forms, along with details as to when each form should be used. Select the form that matches your status.
- In-School Deferment
- You are enrolled in school at least half time.

- Military Service Deferment
- Your military service is in connection with a war, military operation, or national emergency.

- Graduate Fellowship Deferment and Questionnaire
- You are participating in a Graduate Fellowship program full time.

- Unemployment Deferment
- You are seeking but unable to find full time employment.

- Economic Hardship Deferment
- You receive payments from a federal or state public assistance program or your monthly income is less than 150% of the poverty guideline for family size.

Nurse Faculty Loans
- Request for Postponement for Teaching as Nurse Faculty
- Used to: request postponement in lieu of payment of a NFLP loan. Must be completed and submitted at the beginning of the academic year.

- Used to: request partial cancellation of a NFLP loan. Must be completed and submitted at the end of the academic year.

IU Bursar and Other Forms
- Bursar Appeal Form
- Used to: request an exception from the university's refund policy if there are specific, extenuating circumstances that caused them to withdraw involuntarily from some or all courses after the refund period.
